abstract

abstract ground water flow and skin is the most important phenomenon in the process streams are involved not only in the face of the whole earth, but also of the life of man on earth can. degradation of coastal erosion, lateral stability and continuity in iran and around the world each year destroys fertilized agricultural lands around the river, coastal installations, bridges, and is general houses. this causes erosion at the river chrdavl chenareh in the range studied. during the course of the river in order to 5/1 km was selected and harvested field operations. after the tin created using hec-geo ras amendment to link the hec-ras model and software arcgis 50 provides a cross-section of the model is introduced and values of the manning coefficient model was introduced. with the introduction of the geometrical characteristics of the river flow characteristics and the manning coefficient model, hec-ras, characteristics of flood flows for return periods of 5, 25, 50, 100 and 200 are set and used to determine and identify areas susceptible to erosion and sedimentation rates minimum and maximum shear stress and velocity across the range for different flood return period was determined. finally, the bank erosion. the minimum shear stress for different flood return period equal to n / m ^ 2 12/7, which occurred on the left coast, so left coast range chenareh most vulnerable place for the deposition. field visits the accuracy of the calculations and the results of recent research shows.

Roughness uncertainty analysis in river flooding using HEC-RAS model

Although flood maps based on the deterministic approach play an important role in minimizing flood losses, there is considerable uncertainty in calculating the level of water inundation. Roughness is a key parameter in water surface elevation. Since roughness is not easily measurable and is estimated based on experimental and laboratory methods, it introduces a significant degree of uncertainty...

Flood hazard zoning using geographic information system (GIS) and HEC-RAS model (Case study: Rasht City)

Rivers are important water resources for human life, but sometimes cause irreparable damages. The flood plains are fertile terrains which are endangered by flood. Flood hazard mapping is one of the basic methods in flood fighting. In order to decline flood damages, the simulation of the hydraulic behavior of the rivers during flood occurrence is very important. In this study, areas that are flo...

Flood zoning estimation and river management by using HEC-RAS and GIS model

Reliable estimates of river stream fl ow and fl ood zoning maps are needed for water resourcesmanagement such as fl ood mitigation, water supply, dam construction and irrigation. Flood zoning needsaccurate data and is one of the non-structural fl ood management methods. This paper describes theapplication of HEC-RAS and GIS model to determine fl oodplains maps for the part of Sardabrud Rivertha...

Controlling HEC-RAS using MATLAB

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) is a widely used software application for performing one-dimensional and two-dimensional steady and unsteady flow river hydraulics calculations, sediment transport-mobile bed modeling, and water quality analysis. User’s of HEC-RAS have often unique applications including the coupling with other sof...

Floodplain mapping using HEC-RAS and GIS in semi-arid regions of Iran

Abstract A significant deficiency of most computer models used for stream floodplain analysis is that the locations of structures impacted by floodwaters, such as bridges, roads, and buildings, cannot be effectively compared to the floodplain location. This research presents a straightforward approach for processing output of the HEC-RAS hydraulic model, to enable two- and three dimensional f...

Monitoring Riverbank Erosion in Mountain Catchments Using Terrestrial Laser Scanning

Sediment yield is a key factor in river basins management due to the various and adverse consequences that erosion and sediment transport in rivers may have on the environment. Although various contributions can be found in the literature about sediment yield modeling and bank erosion monitoring, the link between weather conditions, river flow rate and bank erosion remains scarcely known. Thus,...
